KNOWING YOUR AUDIENCE pt 2

Knowing your audience is everything and at DW Video & Multimedia,LLC we work closely with you to do just that! The important third leg of the tripod, remember? Whether its telling a story or documenting an event... it's important to know your audience.

BEFORE WE BEGIN ON YOUR PROJECT WE ASK A NUMBER OF QUESTIONS:
1) What is your audience ~ are they: Potential clients, Current Clients, Employees, Sales Force - General Workers.
2) Do they know anything about their services, products, and procedures?

Some other questions we ask are:

1) What problems do you hope to solve with video, web, print etc.?
2) What is the one key message you want to deliver to your audience?
3) What do you want the viewer to think after watching the video, reading the brochure etc.? I.e. sales, training, promotional.
4) You know your product/service better than you do. Are there any key points that we'll need to cover to sell/train/educate the viewer on?
5) Do we need print support to aid in the effectiveness of the message? Are there already support materials?
6) In the case of corporate/industrial or tv commercial it is also important to know what other marketing materials your company is using.

From these questions, interviewing key people on your staff, researching materials, you may already have, all aid us in knowing your audience. I hope you're starting to see a pattern starting to take shape here, its not just fancy video angles, effects, editing. It's the script, knowing your audience and then applying these other talents to produce an effective video (web-site, print, CD-Rom, DVD, etc.) that will gets results for you... the customer. (i.e. more profits for your business!)

The reason is you want the video to support their current marketing or training efforts. If they don't have anything, this is an opportunity for you to develop all their marketing/ training material. i.e. brochures, web-site, sell sheets etc. more on that later (network with other industries).

Handling your complete marketing and training production needs contact DW Video & Multimedi today. Next time I will cover Helpful Tips to help you Market your Business. Have a great day and thank you for stopping by.

Know Your Audience

While picture quality and audio quality are very important to the success of a Video, DVD, Interactive CD, they're only two legs of the tripod. The other, equally important leg is 'quality of information'. By this, I mean that WHAT the video says, does, explains or sells is critical to its' success. If you neglect this critical leg of the picture...well, imagine trying to balance a camera on a two-legged tripod. This is why the pre-production process is so important. This process is similar for web- site, print, cd-rom, etc
.
PRE-PRODUCTION is the planning, coordination and information gathering phase of the project. With this information a proposal with the preliminary budget & bid is put together. This phase also includes the script writing. The script includes the talent's lines, the visuals - such as camera shots, graphics, animation - and any other information important to the project. The script is the blue print or road map for the actual video production.

Putting a video and print campaign together at the same time makes sense. The crossover usage between script and brochure copy alone can also save time and money. This phase is very important - the time spent preplanning will save time, money and eliminate hassles further down the road. Call (231) 937-5420 or email me to have us begin on your next project.

Next time we'll cover some questions we ask a customer before beginning the scripting process.
